Why I'm Great .....

IMG_6492.jpg

I am not only known for my style but a creation of inner confidence.  Do you know that pain births passion and passion births purpose? The true shell of me endured many personal battles, but I knew with those battles, there was something greater being formed. I was not the girl who could easily go into the mall and pick out anything I wanted…due to limited sizes. I was not the girl who could always drape herself in the latest fashion trends. I was the girl who had to be creative and not emulate anyone else. I was the girl who was told that I shouldn’t wear bright colors or large prints because I wasn’t a size 7. I was told to be part of the background instead of the lead. I say thank you for negative thoughts and your opinion of me. While you were tearing me down, I was building me up. I stand before you today as a hope and a leader to many who have walked in my shoes, and an inspiration to those who come behind me.  Your pattern was made specifically for you, NOW WORK YOUR DESIGN!

What made me.....

116 Smoot Ave was my address, but fashion was my destination. My memories of style and fashion began with the creativity of the people and surroundings on Smoot Avenue and my world was expanded when I would frequent thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales with my mother. My eye was not only unique but my vision was clear. I had pleasure in taking a blank canvas and transforming it into a wonderful masterpiece. I would transform anything from barbie outfits to a men's pantsuit into a trendy outfit for myself. I was always bold in my statements and unapologetically me.  I was a trendsetter in every sense of the word. I was heavily influenced by style icons such as Janet Jackson, Jody Whatley and the undeniable Mary J. Blige. However, when I moved to Atlanta my world of fashion blossomed as once again my eye was opened further as I had access. There wasn’t anywhere that I went where someone didn’t recognize my unique style. This gift allowed me to open up my first accessory business in 2012 known as Palmerized by Tracey. The business not only allowed me to showcase my style, but it created a platform for more. I have learned that when your world is expanded then your universe is open.  Dreamers dream for two reasons because they think, and plan. Welcome to a plan that was a dream from a little girl who grew up on a street where destiny was waiting. Welcome to Smoot Ave.

Welcome to Smoot Ave.

There is a difference between a street and an avenue. A street is normally defined by its size as normally there is one way in and one way out. An avenue is three or four times wider than a street, allowing for a different line, path, direction or route. While we grew up at 116 and 126, there was a dynamic that purposed us since birth.

We hail from a small town in West Virginia named Dunbar better known as, “The Bottom”.  This is where our love for creativity was designed. Women who understood that your today doesn’t define your tomorrow. The beauty of "The Bottom" is that we didn’t have to look far for inspiration, our own personal style icons lived on our very same avenue.  We are nothing but two girls with a love for fashion and an eye for style. Welcome to our staircase where our steps were ordered, and the vision prepared. Welcome to the space where confidence is defined, style is established, and dreams happen.

Welcome to Smoot Ave.
